New MME

Did someone say new paper?

My Mind's Eye {All Is Bright}
+
cool sketch from Mojo Monday
=

I mainly buy 6x6 paper pads because they seem
to work so well for cards,
but I may have to cough up the dough
for the 12x12 kit of this gorgeous stuff.

All of the bits and banners are just made for fussy cutting.

And Michael's has some fun new washi tape -
LOTS of it.

This sketch was really fun,
here's a link if you want to play along:

Oh, and there's still time to leave a comment on the Owlsome Fall Blog Hop,
my winner will be announced tomorrow!

Gallery Inspired Challenge - Part 2

Yesterday I shared a card that was inspired by a fun new challenge over at Scrapbook.com
and today I'm sharing the layout that was also part of that challenge.

You can find the original layout that was chosen for me to interpret here.

So, yeah. The interpretation is fairly loose.
What I most wanted to capture was the texture and movement in the original
and I'm very happy with my results.

The arrows are enough to make you weep, aren't they?
It's a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop that I saw at Paper Issues
and HAD TO HAVE.

I'll go ahead and apologize in advance for all of the projects you'll see from me
that are covered in arrows.

My inspiration layout had gorgeous handmade flowers featuring Tim Holtz' Tattered Florals die.
You know I love flowers, but I didn't want them overpowering this page.
So I made these out of wax paper.
Archival safe? Nope. But after running them through an embossing folder they gave me the texture I was looking for, so I threw caution to the wind and went with it.
(An update in a year to show how they melted to the page would be pretty funny, no?)

One tiny strip of the Amy Tangerine paper that I love so dearly
seems to accentuate the free, fun spirit of the photo.

I'm so glad I joined in this fun challenge.
This is the first layout I've created in a few months and now my mojo is definitely rejuvenated.

I signed up again for the next round and can't wait to get started!

Gallery Inspired Challenge

I love using challenges and sketches as a jumping off point,
especially for layouts.

This month over at Scrapbook.com there is a new challenge
inspired by the gallery full of wonderful work there.

The premise - lift any example of a card and/or layout in the gallery.
The twist - let someone else pick your inspiration for you.

I jumped in with both feet and let someone pick for me,
and I'm so glad I did! I never would have even attempted to copy

Here's my interpretation:

The soft, beautiful Country Boutique papers from
Fancy Pants Designs are so easy to work with,
they practically speak for themselves.

I used a Studio G floral stamp that I've had forever and added some
Liquid Pearls for dimension.

Diamond Stickles on the tips of the roses add some sparkle,
and a few strands of twine anchor them to the page.

My trusty "A Good Life" stamp makes another appearance.
(Love that thing!)
And, of course, an arrow had to make its way on here somehow.

Check back tomorrow for part 2 of the
Gallery Inspired Challenge
to see how I incorporated this awesome stencil from
The Crafter's Workshop on my layout:
(Isn't it divine?!)

I wanted to do something a little different this time around,
and when I happened upon a scrawny little wreath at the Target dollar spot
I knew I had my project!

The owl is a pattern that I got from here.
Print, cut, emboss, piece, and done!
Isn't it cute?

A couple of flowers using Spellbinders Rose Creations
and Spiral Blossom One on top of some
dollar store fall leaves.

And a few sprigs of berries that I also
picked up for a buck finish it off.
An adorable fall decoration for under $5
that took about 20 minutes to make!

As a thank you for stopping by my blog I'm giving away some fall candy -

Kid Art and Blog Hop Reminder

TGIF, friends!

What a week.
I think I have finally ironed out my daily schedule.
Who would have thought having kids at two different schools
would cause so much of a wrinkle?

It seems we (and by "we" I mean "I") are always on the run.

Well, I have been able to get some crafting done, and so has my daughter.
She's 11 and so proud of this recent card she made - I thought I'd share it with you!

Isn't it cute?! I helped her get the mat straight, she did everything else by herself.

She made me realize that my Cricut really is fun and I should
dust it off and USE it.

Hopefully we can squeeze more crafting time in this weekend.

If you're around blogland this weekend,
be sure to join us for Heather's 2nd Hop!

Full of inspiring work and prizes,
we hope you'll hop by!

Elegant Christmas

Getting a jump on my holiday cards
and of course playing with my shiny new Spellbinders set - Ironwork Accents.

Such a fancy look and little effort required.
That's my kind of card!

Have you started on your holiday cards yet?

Paper is Prima - Alla Prima {Encaustic}
Perals are from JoAnn's dollar bin
The little wreath is fussy cut from Graphic 45
- Christmas Emporium {Santa Express}

What Inspires You?

People? Places? Sounds?

Today's card was inspired by cleaning.

What?

Yes. I was organizing my Spellbinders drawer and got bit by the crafty bug.
Will wonders never cease?

As you can see, I used A LOT of them on this card.
My newest - and current fave - Ironwork Accents,
Fleur De Lis Squares, Postage Stamps,
Spiral Blossom One, and Rose Creations.

The paper is Basic Grey {Little Black Dress}
and Bo Bunny {Et Cetera}.

A Basic Grey sticker for the inside, but it looks unfinished to me.
Perhaps a line a black pearls along the bottom?
Because bling makes everything better.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!
