PTT #69 Vintage/Shabby Chic

It's Tuesday, and we have another amazing challenge for you at Party Time Tuesdays!

Vintage or Shabby Chic!

We have some fabulous sponsors this week,
check them out:

A certain fabulous grandpa I know has a birthday coming up,
so I created this card for a certain fabulous boy to give to him.

That adorable digi is from The Stamping Boutique.
I colored him with pencils and then cut him out and used pop dots to lift him off the background.

The background paper was created using the teeniest scraps
of my beloved October Afternoon Fly a Kite collection.
I may actually cry when it's all gone!
I inked all of the edges with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give it a vintage look.

Come join us at Party Time Tuesdays
with your vintage/shabby creations!

Beach Diva {step-by-step}

If you've read my last few posts,
you know that I've been bitten by the paint bug.

While perusing my favorite blogs
I saw that ScrapFIT's current workout involves mists.

Paint and mist? Yes, please!

Let's get started.

Would you look at how hideous that paper is?
I don't know what it is or where it came from,
but I'm feeling ambitious.

First some paint . . . .

Then some yellow mist on top of that . . . .

Tape, tape, tape . . . .

More paint, and now some orange mist . . .

That has to dry, so let's mist some red and orange on
yellow cardstock for some butterflies . . . .

Organize scraps? Nah, I just throw them in this drawer . . . .

Let's start layering and see where it leads . . . .

Add in those butterflies . . . .

That yellow is too bright, let's tone it down . . . .

And sorry, purple, but you're killing me.
Out comes some white stain and yellow mist to cover it up . . .

The circles. They are just too much.
Where's my trimmer? . . . .

Little dots of paint and drips of mist on the white background.
And ooooh, I like the butterflies on the sides . . .

Let's find a picture and play with the title . . . .

And a cute little journaling smash tag . . . .

Tuck the tag behind the pic and add a subtitle . . .

And done! What do you think?

I had tons of fun playing with all that paint and mist.

What's your favorite thing to craft with right now?

Finally Home

No, I didn't go anywhere.

"Finally Home" is the title of the layout I did yesterday.

I did a little retail therapy (because the rain has been giving me the blues).

Oooooooh. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Mmmmmmmm.
(Right?)

I grabbed a dark piece of cardstock since those colors are so bright and here's what I ended up with:

I wish I had thought to do step-by-step photos of this.
It was a flurry of stamping, painting, ripping washi tape apart, layering, and looping twine.

Most, if not all, ideas were ones I "borrowed" from

Haven't seen their work? You need to.

I layered some strips of Bella Blvd {Tail Waggers & Cat Naps}
and put my title right on top.
The little dog house is cut from one of the strips.

I hid the journaling behind the photo.
A little tug on the twine "handle" and it slides right out.

More twine and more of that Bella Blvd. paper.

It's a fun little layout highlighting when we brought Daisy home.
She was the cutest, smelliest, most lovable little thing.
She still is. Except she's BIG.

The painting? Probably the most fun I've had crafting in a LONG time.
Tomorrow, I tackle canvas. Wish me luck!

A Good Life +10

We spent last Saturday at the beach.
I love the beach more than most things in the whole world,
but last Saturday was National Scrapbook Day.

I admit I was sad that I couldn't participate in the oodles of online challenges
and giveaways that went on that day.
{But we did have an excellent time playing in the sand and surf!}

The nice folks over at Scrapbook.com offered a week-long challenge
in addition to their many NSBD challenges.

The week-long challenge was to create a mini album "time machine" -
a book containing 10 or more things you'd like to remember 10 years from now.

I made a paper bag album that is basically a snapshot of our lives right now.
Included are us, our kids, our pets, our current home & cars,
and a whole slew of favorites -
foods/movies/trends/music/hobbies/games/books
as well as current cost of
bread, milk, gas, & stamps.

It was tons of fun to make, thanks for taking a peek!

PTT#67 - Mum's the Word!

Another Tuesday, another fabulous challenge over at

This week is all about Mom,
so show us what you can do to honor the moms in your life.

The design team was lucky enough to be provided with some gorgeous images from
who is our sponsor this week.

We are also being sponsored again this week by

I used a combination of markers and pencils to color in this beautiful image,
then used foam dots to make her pop off of the washi tape background.

I added some punched flowers to some twine and threaded it through her hands
to make it seem as though she's holding the flower banner.

I absolutely love the way it turned out and can't wait to share it with one of the many special moms in my life!

Hop on over to Party Time Tuesdays to join the fun!
All you have to do is create a card following this week's theme,
